JD(S) leader defends Pinarayi

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Janata Dal (S) State president M.P. Veerendrakumar said that there was nothing wrong in Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan having kept bullets in his bag as those were meant for a pistol for which he carried a licence.

In a statement here on Saturday, Mr. Veerendrakumar demanded to know what law and order issue was involved in the issue when he had been issued the licence to carry a gun for self-defence.

He had failed to remove the bullets by oversight and all that he had with him were bullets. The gun was in Kannur.

What danger could happen on account of this? This could happen to anybody.

The Opposition making an issue of it could only be seen as part of an attempt to malign Mr. Vijayan, the JD(S) leader said.
