PATHANAMTHITTA: The annual Uthrasreebali ritual in the Malayalam month of Meenom was held at the Sreevallabha temple in Thiruvalla on Wednesday.

Uthrasreebali is the annual festival at which the presiding deities of the nearby bhagavathy temples of Karunaattukavu, Alamthuruthy and Padappad are escorted to the Sreevallabha temple in a ceremonial procession.

Hundreds of devotees thronged the temple to witness the annual event.

For Vishukaineettom

The deities were accorded a ceremonial reception at the temple precincts in the morning. It is believed that the deities at the bhagavathy temples visit the Sreevallabha temple, one among the 108 Tirupatis in the country, on this day, every year, to accept ‘Vishukaineettom' from the presiding deity, Lord Vishnu.

The event concluded with a procession escorting the presiding deity of Alamthuruthy Bhagavathy Temple back to Alamthuruthy, near Podiyadi, in the afternoon.
