Heritage museum opened at Koyilandy

Cultural Affairs Minister M.A. Baby, on Monday, opened a heritage museum set up by the Koyilandy Municipal authorities at Koyilandy in Kozhikode. P. Viswan, MLA, presided over the function.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Baby lauded the municipal administration that voluntarily came forward with an initiative to open a museum for preserving the ancient treasures. “This is the first time in the State that a local self government body is coming up with this kind of a project,” he said.

“More efforts are needed to protect the cultural heritage and tradition of Kerala for enlightening the new generation,” the Minister observed. He promised all support to the municipal administration from the government to develop the museum.

K. Dasan, chairman of the Municipality, welcomed the gathering. Historian M.R. Raghava Warrier, Registrar of the Centre for Heritage Studies P.K. Gopi and P.V. Madhavan, C. Raman and P.P. Ramdas, chairmen of various standing committees, were also present.
