Have compassion, doctors told

Convocation of the first batch of Amala Medical College conducted.

Thrissur: Kerala University of Health and Allied Sciences Vice-Chancellor K. Mohandas has called upon the younger generation of doctors to promote the human face of health care.

He was addressing the convocation of the first batch of graduates of the Amala Medical College here on Saturday.

“Students and professionals should be prepared for the roles they are expected to play and the challenges they will face in patient care.

Doctors must empathise with patients.

The very presence of the physician should instil comfort in the patient,” he added. Ninety-two students were awarded certificates.

Thrissur Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhathu, Fr. George Pius, Trustee-in-Chief and founder director of Amala Medical College, Principal M. R. Chandran, Director Fr.Paul Achandy and Joint Director Fr. Francis Kurissery were present.
