Kochi: A four-member gang from Tamil Nadu who allegedly committed burglary in Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Kollam districts was arrested by the Thripunithura police on Monday evening.

The police arrested the four while they were plotting another burglary. The arrest was made from under the railway overbridge at Thripuinithura, the police said.

The arrested were Marimuthu, 30; Muthu, 36; Narayanan, 29; and Mayandi, 32, all belonging to Thirunelveli. The police said that their modus operandi was that they would roam around the residential areas in the guise of scrap collectors or persons engaged in knife-sharpening jobs. One member of the gang would break into the house while others keep watch.

The police said that they were arrested in connection with the burglaries that took place between 1998 to 2006.
