Fever: Rajagopal blames Government

Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the former Union Minister O. Rajagopal has alleged that the growing viral fever-related death toll and the disease spreading in an epidemic proportion in different parts of the State is a sad testimony to the inept handling of the situation by the Government. Mr. Rajagopal was addressing a prèss conference at the Government Guest House here after visiting the fever-affected areas in the district and the General Hospital on Wednesday.

He said that summoning of the Armed Forces team for combating the mosquito-borne fever epidemic exposed the inefficiency of the Government in handling the crisis situation. Mr. Rajagopal called upon the local self-government institutions to take effective steps on a war-footing to check the public health risk posed by the indiscriminate dumping of solid waste.

BJP State secretary A.G. Unnikrishnan, district president T.R.Ajithkumar and general secretary Ashokan Kulanada also spoke.
