Exhibition on democracy

KANNUR: Speaker K. Radhakrishnan has said the Assembly has conceived action plans aimed at inculcating democratic and civic sense among the new generation.

Inaugurating a four-day exhibition on ‘Parliamentary democracy: our legacy and achievements’ here on Monday, the Speaker said the Assembly Secretariat would focus on creating history awareness among children as part of the year-long golden jubilee fete of the State Assembly. Many enactments in the State Assembly had been decisive in strengthening the democratic system in country, he said adding that they had earned their due recognition in the history of the country’s parliamentary democracy.

The exhibition was being held here under the aegis of the Assembly Secretariat in association with the Department of Information and Public Relations.

M. Prakashan, MLA, presided over the function. MLAs Ramachandran Kadannappally and K.P. Mohanan; former MLAs P. Bhaskaran, N. Ramakrishnan and M.V. Govindan; district panchayat president K.K. Narayanan, District Collector Ishita Roy and Kannur municipal chairman K. Upendran were present.
