Employees demand job protection

KOZHIKODE: A meeting of the employees of Kerala Soaps and Oils Limited (KSOL) and trade unions of the closed public sector enterprise held here the other day demanded that jobs of the employees be protected as the new company, Kerala Soaps Limited, is new version of the old one.

The meeting presided over by T. Moidu of the Janata Dal said KSOL be revived on the factory premises at West Hill itself. It said the efforts of the management to shift the costly machinery of the old company by converting them into scraps should be dropped.

The other demands included an end to employing those who had gone on voluntary retirement scheme. All financial matters related to the old company in the recent past should be investigated.
