KOZHIKODE: A joint meeting of the Chambers of Commerce of the Malabar region at Vadakara has sought urgent action to improve the condition of roads in the region.

Better roads would aid in the region’s development, representatives of chambers said.

he meeting expressed disappointment over the undue delay in completing work on the Thalassery-Mahe bypass.

The members said the technicalities in acquiring 1200 acres of land for the Kannur airport should be expedited.

Though it had been announced 18 months ago that services of foreign airlines would begin from the international airport at Karipur, steps were yet to be taken in this regard. This created hardship for passengers bound for the Gulf region.

Meeting

The meeting discussed the setting up of an industrial township at Kinaloor and at Mavoor, in association with the Aditya Birla Group. V.R. Krishnan, president of the Vadakara Chamber of Commerce, presided.
