Thiruvananthapuram: The fee for students in merit and management seats in professional colleges in the cooperative sector in Kerala would be reduced by 20 per cent from this academic year, Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran said here on Wednesday.

If students had already paid the existing fee, the excess amount would be added to the next year's fee, he told reporters.

The expert panel appointed by the government to study revision of fee structure in cooperative professional colleges to run them on no-profit, no-loss basis submitted its report to the government on Wednesday.

The Minister said Consumerfed would open more than 3,000 Easter-Vishu fairs from April 1 to 14 to make available essential items to consumers at reasonable rates.

He said since the LDF government came to power, Consumerfed had run 42,210 temporary outlets in different seasons that fetched a sales revenue of Rs.477.4 crore and provided the consumers benefits worth Rs.213 crore. — PTI
