VS and his Cabinet colleagues have lost face before the public: Hassan

PALAKKAD: Congress spokesman M.M. Hassan on Saturday demanded that the Government take action against E.P. Jayarajan for his involvement in the Rs.2-crore deal involving lottery tycoon S. Martin.

Inaugurating a march organised by the District Congress Committee (DCC) in front of the Collectorate here, Mr. Hassan accused the party of adopting double standards.

This was evident from the fact that it had taken action against the deputy general manager of the party organ Desabhimani on the charge of accepting Rs.1 crore from a private finance company, while it was reluctant to act against the paper’s general manager for accepting Rs.2 crore from the lottery tycoon.

Munnar encroachments

Mr. Hassan said the Cabinet had lost collective responsibility, as was evident in the issue of removing encroachments by Kanan Devan Company in Munnar. The Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues had lost face before the public.

DCC president A.V. Gopinath presided over the meeting. C.P. Mohammed, MLA; the former Member of Parliament V.S. Vijayaraghavan; Congress leaders V.K. Sreekandan and C.V. Balachandran, among others, spoke.
