Complaint under IT Act admitted

Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Chief Judicial Magistrate on Saturday passed orders directing the Kasaba police to probe and submit a report on a complaint filed by a marriage bureau owner against a city-based firm providing web design services. Magistrate K.V. Gopikuttan admitted the complaint under Section 65 (tampering with computer source documents) and Section 66 (hacking with computer system) of the Information Technology Act.

The complainant, E.V. Viswavasu, who runs the Sivakami Marriage Bureau at Tali here, had entered into an agreement with Manjithlal, owner of O-Two Design, to create a website for the bureau and its registration in 2005. He had also remitted Rs.27,000 for the purpose.

He stated before the court that the service provider had not completed the website project till now and that the owner had deliberately created some errors in the website. The firm also obtained Rs.73,000 as maintenance charges, the petitioner said.
