KOZHIKODE: District Collector A. Jayathilak donated a collection of books in his possession to Kozhikode Public Library and Research Centre at Mananchira Square here on Sunday.

P. Parameswaran Potti, chief librarian, received 612 books from D. Jayathilak at the latter’s camp office at West Hill.

Dr. Jayathilak will be relieved of his duties as collector early this week. He is chairman of the library too.

The collection includes books gifted to Dr. Jayathilak by individuals and organisations and some official documents dating back to the British rule and Independence.

Mr. Potti said the collection would be made accessible to the public soon for reference during library hours. It would be useful to researchers and students.
