Clash at law college

A clash between members of rival student organisations led to a tense situation at Government Law College here on Wednesday.

The police said activists of the Kerala Students' Union (KSU) and the Muslim Students' Federation (MSF) locked horns with those belonging to the Students Federation of India (SFI) over the conduct of elections in the college.

The UDSF, a front of the KSU and the MSF, had been demanding closure of the union office functioning on the campus. It said the election had not been held there for the past year-and-a-half and there was no need for the union office under such a circumstance. Leaders of the SFI said it was unreasonable to close down the union office as the election would be held soon. On Wednesday, the staff council of the college decided to conduct the union elections in September.
