Chief Khazi passes away

Kozhikode: Nalakathu Muhammad Koya Bakhavi, 85, the Chief Khazi of Kozhikode, passed away at a private hospital here in the morning on Thursday. He was undergoing treatment for age-related disorders at the hospital here for the last few days.

Mr. Bakhavi, who assumed the post in July 1968, is one of the longest serving Khazies of Kozhikode with his 40- year service as the government recognised Khazi of the district. He is survived by wife Kadeejabi, sons Alikkoya, Abdullakoya, Asru, and daughters Fathima and Salma.

His body will be buried at the premises of the Kuttichira Miskal Masjid in Kozhikode. The funeral will take place at 8 p.m.
