KOLLAM: A bomb threat to the Kerala Water Authority complex near the Cantonment Maidan here on Tuesday afternoon proved to be a hoax.

The call was made at 12.45 p.m. to the commercial taxes office functioning from the KWA complex. Commercial Taxes Officer Gracy James, who answered the call, was told by a man that a bomb was planted on the fourth floor of the complex.

A team from the Kollam East Police station backed by a bomb disposal squad made a thorough search. The adjacent overhead water tank was also searched.

The police then termed it a hoax call. The call number identifier of the phone on which the call came was defective. The police said that in addition to registering a case, the incident was reported to the Cyber Cell to identify the telephone number from which the call was made.
