Award for K.K.N. Kurup

Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calicut and history scholar K.K.N. Kurup has been chosen for the 2010 T.K. Ramakrishnan Prize instituted by the Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award committee. Addressing a news conference here on Friday, Sakthi award committee chairman P. Karunakaran, MP, and convener Erumeli Parameswaran Pillai also announced annual Abu Dhabi Sakthi awards for literature. The winners are: K.K. Ramesh (short story), A.P. Jyothirmayi (novel), Sivadas Purameri (poetry), Kavumbayi Balakrishnan (literary research), Kilimanur Chandran (other literary works) and K.G. Raghunath (children's literature). The Thayat Award, also given by the committee, has been won by P. Appukkuttan for literary criticism.
