Old students’ meet at Maharaja’s

KOCHI: For many, Ernakulam Maharaja’s College is like a second home. The alma mater refuses to fade out from their memory even if they crossed its boundaries years back.

A ride back to the campus is always a dream come true for many. And that is exactly the inspiration for a nostalgic trip planned by the students of the 1986-96 batches on January 13.

From actor Dileep to directors Amal Neerad and Anwar Rasheed, the alumni will recollect the rich and old heritage of one of the oldest educational institutions in the State.

Says Sajan Palluruthy, former student and the man behind the programme: “It will be called ‘Maharajas oru punarjanmam’ (Maharajas, a recreation). The programme will start with the morning bell ringing at 9.30 a.m. Former students will recall the past by spending time in their classrooms. It will be like any other day on the campus. We are coming as students and not as alumni on this special day,” he says. Mr. Sajan, a popular mimicry artist, says that the college will always remain in the hearts of students. “It is really unique. To get a feel of Maharajas, you need to study here,” he says. The former students will get together for a chat near the famous ‘piriyan govani’ and enjoy a cup of tea at the college canteen on January 13. Former Principals and teachers of the college would also join the celebrations.

More details about the programme can be had from phone numbers 9447509643, 9847388776.
