Vehicles were found parked haphazardly

KOCHI: The City Traffic Police removed 18 vehicles from the main roads, which were found parked haphazardly, on the second day of the special drive. Nine vehicles were towed away on Wednesday.

Owners will have to pay a fee for the recovery of the vehicle and a fine for violating traffic rules and also for errors in maintaining documents, if any, to release the towed-away vehicles. Two recovery vans are being employed by the City Traffic Police to remove vehicles that are parked violating traffic rules.

In many parts like Ravipuram, vehicles are parked on the road even when ‘pay-and-park’ facilities are available, said K.B. Venugopal, Assistant Commissioner of Police, City Traffic (West).

Even though the recovery vans can remove only one vehicle at a time, other vehicles found violating traffic rules will have to pay half the fee of the vehicle and other fines. Two such cases were registered on Thursday.
