`Surrender extra PAN cards'

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: Additional Commissioner of Income Tax N. Raghavan has informed that individuals or institutions using more than one Permanent Account Number (PAN) card is an offence inviting punitive action.

In case individuals or institutions were in possession of more than one PAN card, only one should be retained and the remaining ones should be handed over to the Income Tax office, Mr. Raghavan said in a statement.

For the purpose, a special counter has been opened at the Income Tax office here. The counter will function till February 23. Those in possession of more than one PAN card should hand over the extra cards at the office by that date with a covering letter, the statement said.
