Thiruvananthapuram: The Government will take steps for the overall development of tourist destinations in the State by adhering to the principles of responsible tourism, Minister for Tourism Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.

He was inaugurating a three-day national seminar on `Ethnic tourism,' organised by the Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS) at the Residency here on Friday.

The State should utilise its rich culture, heritage and traditional art forms to promote ethnic tourism.

By developing ethnic tourism, the State would be able to adhere to the principles of responsible tourism, the Minister said. Kerala Tourism would soon come out with a cultural calendar for tourists, he said.
