KANNUR: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) State president Ramesh Chennithala has said that reunification of all Congress workers is the goal of the party.

Inaugurating a function here on Saturday to mark the rejoining of workers of erstwhile Democratic Indira Congress (DIC) led by Sathyan Vandichal, Mr. Chennithala said the Congress would welcome and politically protect all those who wanted to come back to the parent party. Strengthening the Congress meant strengthening secularism, he said.

Observing that political parties having no ideological basis could not survive in the State, Mr. Chennithala said the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) would never be part of the United Democratic Front (UDF). The Congress would not accept any political alliance that would not be acceptable to the people of the State, he said.
