Youth told to spread message of peace

BANGALORE Aug. 10. The III Asian Youth Day Conference organised by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement and the FABC-Office of Laity-Youth Desk here on Sunday, marked the Asian youth's commitment to peace and harmony.

Nearly 1,000 young people from India and other countries participated in the conference as delegates.

The meet also saw a gathering of eminent religious leaders who took part in the programme. Youth delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan were part of the conference.

Inaugurating the conference, the Home Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge, called upon the youth to spread the message of peace in society.

Religion did not teach hatred or violence and every religion promoted the well-being of humanity.

However, there were certain vested interests which misused religion to create animosity and spread violence among people of different sects. Mr. Kharge warned the youth not to be influenced by such forces.
