TUMKUR: Rajappa Papanna Reddy, Professor, Purdue University, U.S., favours a rural setup for technical education.

Prof. Reddy, who is a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, was at the national conference on Advanced Communication Techniques and Research, organised by Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (CIT), Gubbi, near here, on Friday.

He said he is delighted to see the institute set up in an obscure rural part and yet equipped with all modern learning aids.

He lauded the State Government for giving permission for a college in a rural area and G.S. Basavaraju, former Tumkur MP, for founding it. Prof. Reddy said the Government must extend more help for the growth of hardware technology, especially in rural areas.
