Madikeri: Members of the Cauvery Sene and people of Kalakeri-Nidugane village, near here, on Friday took out a procession from Abbi Falls to the Deputy Commissioner's office here protesting against the proposed construction of the mini hydroelectric power project at the famous tourist spot.

Led by convenor of the Sene Ravi Chengappa, the members came to the Deputy Commissioner's office and sat on dharna, vowing to continue their round-the-clock protest for 10 days.

They will not rest until the proposed construction work of the project that started a few days ago is withdrawn, Mr. Chengappa said.

This is the first step of protest and if the authorities do not scrap the project, the Sene, with the help of political parties and people of the district, will intensify its struggle, its members warned.
