Villagers demand more buses, drinking water

KRISHNAGIRI: Lack of buses and drinking water facilities were raised at the mass contact programme held at Papparapatti in Pocchampalli taluk 35 km from here on Wednesday.

As many as 85 petitions were received by the collector, Mangat Ram Sharma during the meeting which pertained to issuance of family cards, street lights, patta transfer, group houses, drinking water facilities and old age pension.

The collector said that the action would be taken on all the petitions based on order of importance. In addition, action taken on about 162 petitions were also taken up for review.

With regard to adequate buses he said that town buses could be plied only within a radius of 30 km.

As a result steps would be taken to extend the existing town bus routes to interior villages after consultation with TNSTC officials. New overhead water tank had been constructed in the village and steps would be initiated to supply water within a week. Mr. Sharma said that about 10 group houses had been constructed and distributed to beneficiaries in Puliampatti village. In addition about 5 group houses would be constructed by the end of this year.

With regard to streetlights he said that the sanction had been given for installation of five solar lights in the village.
