Village accountants warned

CHITRADURGA, JUNE 1. M.A. Sadiq, Deputy Commissioner, has warned village accountants against issuing bogus certificates attesting authenticity of small and marginal farmers.

The Government has arranged for the supply of seeds at subsidised price to small and marginal farmers for taking up agricultural operations in view of the onset of monsoon. Farmers, who have suffered because of the drought in the last three years, are in need of help. But some vested interests may try to misuse the facility extended to poor farmers.

That is why the beneficiaries are expected to produce relevant certificates from the revenue authority to avail themselves of the benefit, he has said in a press release.

To avert misuse of this scheme, steps are to be taken by the officials concerned, he has said.
