Madikeri: It was a rare experience for visiting American Consul-General David T. Hopper and his wife, Susan Hopper, as well as the faculty and senior students of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan-Kodagu Vidyalaya (BVB-KV) here on Friday.

The Hoppers, accompanied by the Darien-Mercara Association members, led by Frank Keen, the American team leader, planted saplings on the school campus, named "Evelyn Glick grove."

Mr. Hopper planted a mango sapling and Ms. Hopper planted a "Garcinia Indica," plant commonly called as "Ponapuli" in Kodava parlance.

The guests were touched by the enthusiasm of the students at the opportunity section of the institution. They were captivated by the young children, who despite their disabilities, displayed latent talents by presenting a dance.
