Two commit suicide

TUMKUR SEPT. 6. Mudlagiriyappa (50), who reportedly consumed poison, died in the Turuvekere Hospital in Tumkur district on Saturday.

His wife, Nanjamma, said Mudlagiriyappa had taken loans amounting to Rs. 20,000, and left home some time ago when moneylenders pressured him to repay the money.

Her two daughters had taken up jobs in a garment factory in Bangalore, she added.

Mulagiriyappa was found in a field on Friday morning. Police shifted him to the hospital.

Karisiddayya Hiremath (35) committed suicide by hanging himself in his fields in Itagi village of Gadag district on Friday.

His family sources said Hiremath took the extreme step as he could not repay a loan of Rs. 55,000 taken from a cooperative society and another Rs. 45,000 taken from a bank.
