Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj has threatened to sit on a dharna in every district centre in Karnataka, starting July 18, in protest against the demand for separate statehood for north Karnataka by a section of people.

Kannada Okkoota, the umbrella body of Kannada organisations he heads, will also plan a bandh in the last week of August.

Mr. Nagaraj, speaking to presspersons, demanded that the State government set right the “injustice” done to north Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka regions since the unification of Karnataka.

He also demanded that the Deputy Chief Minister’s post be given to a representative from north Karnataka.
