Steps to check diseases

SHIMOGA, MARCH 24. The Deputy Commissioner, Tushar Girinath, said here on Tuesday that steps are being taken against the possible outbreak of the communicable diseases during summer.

Presiding over a meeting of the district communicable disease eradication committee, he said that the sale of cutfruits and eatables kept in the open on the roadside has been banned from April 1 to June-end.

Instructions have been issued to officials concerned to arrange for the supply of clean and potable water in the areas which are susceptible to communicable diseases such as cholera. He said that reports about the communicable diseases had been obtained from all parts of the district.

Mr. Girinath said that he had received reports about the outbreak of the gastroenteritis in Kargal town of Sagar taluk and has asked the officials concerned to take preventive measures.

Filter belts and pipelines will be replaced in such places. He warned of action against officials who fail to submit reports on water samples from time to time.
