Sports meet for officials inaugurated

HASSAN: The Deputy Commissioner, K.H. Ashwathanaryana Gowda, has urged officials to involve themselves in sports and improve their fitness levels. He said that clerical work will make them immobile.

Hoisting the flag at the district-level sports meet of government officials here on Saturday, Mr. Gowda said that developing a sporting spirit will help officials come up in life.

Work pressure

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat, F.R. Jamaadar, said that an increase in work pressure at the office affects the health of officials. It will do them good to participate in sports. This will also keep their enthusiasm intact, he said. He added that those who represent the district at the national level will be rewarded suitably.

The Superintendent of Police, Panduranga Rane, said that sports are important to keep fit and asked them to participate in all events.

Noted sportsperson from the district, Hiriyanna; the Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Services, Jayaram; and the president of District Government Employees' Union, K.C. Rangaswamy, participated in the function.
