Show-cause notice to some unaided professional colleges

BANGALORE, AUG. 14. The committee overseeing the entrance test conducted by the association of private professional colleges has issued show-cause notice to some private unaided professional colleges that have not submitted admission details and the admission procedure adopted to the committee or to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).

The committee has resolved to take up the issue related to colleges that have not submitted details next week, according to D.V. Prasad, member-secretary of the committee.

The committee has taken note of what it termed irregularities in the admission process by Sri Siddhartha Medical College in Tumkur and directed the college management to call all candidates, who are on the waiting list, for counselling and admission strictly on the basis of merit.

The committee said that it had received complaints from candidates regarding admission to the management quota seats in the college.

The committee had sent the complaints to the college and directed the principal and vice-principal to appear before it.

The committee found that the selection list prepared by the institution was not fair and transparent and not on the basis of merit.

The candidates who had secured higher ranks than those admitted were not given an opportunity to seek admission.

The college had admitted only 15 candidates to the 33 seats in the management quota.

The college was asked by the committee to complete the admission process after giving 15 days' notice and to notify the date of seat selection in newspapers. The institution had also not sent the list of selected candidates to the committee or to the RGUHS.
