Several vehicles, iron ore seized near Hosadurga

CHITRADURGA: The Forest Department officials in the district have seized nine trucks, two cars, and an earthmover, which were used to transport iron ore illegally in Hosadurga taluk on Sunday.

According to official sources, acting on a tip off, a team of officials under the leadership of Tammanna, Range Forest Officer of Hosadurga, raided Kudrekani Farm and Kttam Basha old mine areas in Hosadurga taluk on Sunday and recovered 150 tonnes of iron ore estimated to be Rs. 6 lakhs. The team seized nine trucks loaded with ore that were about to leave the place. The team seized one earthmover, which had been used for mining. Some people, who were sitting in two cars, fled the spot abandoning the vehicles. The officers have seized the cars.

Drivers of all the vehicles have been apprehended.
