Several buildings inaugurated

SHIMOGA: The Kuvempu Centenary Building constructed on the premises of the Kuvempu University at Jnana Sahyadri to commemorate the birth centenary of the poet laureate Kuvempu was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor K. Chidananda Gowda on Thursday in the absence of Governor and Chancellor T.N. Chaturvedi who failed to turn up.

Several other new buildings were inaugurated at the campus on the occasion which included the Computer Science and Mathematics Building, which was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University J. Shashidhar Prasad, the Kannada Bharathi Building and the Thipperudraswamy Hall by the former Vice-Chancellor of the Mysore University D. Javare Gowda and the former Kannada Professor of Karnatak University S.M. Vrushabhendra Swamy respectively.

Eminent scientists C.N.R. Rao declared open the "Pampa Vana" (a garden dedicated to the memory of the legendary Kannada poet Pampa) laid in front of the main administrative building.

Later addressing a function organised to mark the inauguration of these new buildings, Mr. Vrushabhendra Swamy lauded the efforts of Kuvempu University in celebrating the birth centenary of Kuvempu by constructing important buildings.
