The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has clarified that all passengers aged above 65 and who have listed ID cards are eligible for a 25 per cent concession in fares in all its services, except Vayu Vajra (airport special service).
In a press release, BMTC said senior citizens had to produce any one of the following documents as proof of age to claim the concession: PAN card, electoral photo identity card, driving licence, ration card or any identity card issued by the government indicating the age of the passenger.
BMTC said it was clearing the air following frequent complaints about conductors not issuing concessional tickets to senior citizens.
