50-member team in taluks to strengthen the party

MANGALORE: The President-designate of the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) D.V. Sadananda Gowda said here on Saturday that the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) motivated him to work hard in the party.

Speaking at a felicitation programme at Sanghaniketan, the regional headquarters of the RSS here, he said that he will work honestly to strengthen the party from the grassroot level in the State. A 50-member team will be constituted in taluks to strengthen the party. He will tour all districts in three months to organise the party after he takes over as president of the State unit in Bangalore on March 25.

BJP MLAs N. Yogish Bhat, J. Krishna Palemar, Shakuntala Shetty, Padmanabha Kottari, Prabhakar Bangera were present. Pratap Simha Nayak, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP, and Vishveshwara Bhat Bangaradkka, general secretary, spoke. Earlier, the party workers gave a warm welcome to Mr. Gowda when he arrived at the Bajpe airport. A huge crowd had gathered at the airport to receive the first president of the State unit of the party from the coastal belt. He was taken to Sanghaniketan in a procession. Incidentally, Saturday was the 53rd birthday of Mr. Gowda.
