Rajkumar discharged from hospital

BANGALORE, JULY 24. Kannada film actor Rajkumar was discharged from the Wockhardt Hospital and Heart Institute on Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Rajkumar was admitted to the hospital a week ago after he complained of chest pain, and on Wednesday a surgery was performed on him to remove a block in the coronary artery.

Crowd of admirers

Mr. Rajkumar was cheered by crowds of admirers and well-wishers when he emerged from the hospital. Wearing a white shirt and dhoti, he was accompanied by his wife Parvathamma Rajkumar, his son Raghavendra Rajkumar, his family doctor Ramana Rao, and members of staff of the hospital. He waved to those who had gathered and spoke to them from the first floor of the hospital.

He said: "Initially, I was longing to get discharged and be home with my family. But, while leaving the hospital now, after staying for a week, I feel as though I am missing something. I have recovered completely... The treatment here is very good," he said.

Doctors thanked

He remembered the doctors, who, he said, had given "life" to his son (Mr. Raghavendra Rajkumar) when he was admitted for a heart aliment years ago. "The doctors sat through the whole night and rescued my son," he added.

"It is not good to say that I want to come here often... But this hospital is good, and I wish the hospital to grow still higher," he said

Mr. Rajkumar and his wife left the hospital in a car. He was followed by Mr. Raghavendra Rajkumar and Dr. Rao in separate cars. The police provided escort.

Traffic on Cunningham Road came to a brief halt when Mr. Rajkumar was leaving the hospital.
