Purchase of onions from October 11

DHARWAD, OCT. 7. The purchase of onions grown in the kharif season will start from October 11 at the Annigeri market yard and on October 14 at the Agricultural Produce Committee Market yard in Hubli.

According to a press release, the purchase is being undertaken to prevent crash in the prices of the onion under the floor price scheme and only dry onion belonging to the Fair Average Quality (FAQ) with a diameter of 30 mm will be purchased at the rate of Rs. 340 per quintal.

The farmers have been requested to bring a certificate from the Tahsildars about their having grown onion and the facility is available for small and marginal farmers. A maximum of 50 quintals of onion will be purchased from each farmer. The purchase will be made up to the end of November.
