Pulse polio drive on January 7, February 11

Arrangements made to set up 532 booths across the district Drops to be administered to 89,631 children

UDUPI: The district administration has made all arrangements to organise a Pulse Polio programme in two rounds in the district on January 7 and February 11, respectively.

According to a press release from V. Ponnuraj, Deputy Commissioner here, the authorities have made arrangements to set up 532 booths across the district, where polio drops would be administered to children in the age group of zero to five years.

In all, polio drops would be administered to 89,631 children in the target age group. Mr. Ponnuraj has directed the authorities of the Transport Department to provide vehicles for the programme.

He has also directed all district-level officials to visit two pulse polio booths and submit a report on the implementation of the pulse polio programme there to the District Health and Family Welfare Officer.

Rotary Club has volunteered to provide snacks to officers and volunteers who participate in the programme.

The Deputy Commissioner urged all citizens, members of voluntary organisations to cooperate in the implementation of the programme and ensure its success.

M.R. Naik, District Health Officer, Ramachandra B., District AIDS Nodal Officer, Pranesh Rao, and Deputy Secretary, Zilla Panchayat attended a meeting convened by Mr. Ponnuraj in this regard.
