National workshop for artists

BELLARY, OCT. 11. Renuka Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Tourism, will inaugurate the four-day national workshop for artists at Hampi on Tuesday.

The function, which is being organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka, in association with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC), will be held near the `Yeduru Basava,' opposite Virupaksha Temple, at 5 p.m. M.P. Prakash, Minister for Revenue, will preside over the function.

Fifteen noted artists from across the country will take part in the workshop being organised for the first time at the national level. K. Virupakshappa, MP for Koppal; H.R. Gaviyappa, Hospet MLA; Haji Abdul Sattar Sait, chairman, KSTDC; G. Umesh, president of the Bellary Zilla Panchayat; and G.L. Chandrashekariah, Deputy Commissioner, Koppal, are among the chief guests.

Ms. Renuka Choudhary will also lay the foundation stone for the Chaudhary Charan Singh birth centenary building at Hampi. The Union Government has released Rs. 40 lakhs for the construction of the building.
