M.N. Narayanaswamy passes away

DAVANGERE, MARCH 17. M.N. Narayanaswamy, the Chief Executive Officer of the Davangere Zilla Panchayat, died at a private hospital in Bangalore on Thursday afternoon. He was 53 years old and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Mr. Narayanaswamy sustained a cerebral haemorrhage two days ago and doctors here had advised his family members to shift him to Bangalore for treatment. It is said that he did not receive proper medical attention when he was admitted to a private hospital here on Tuesday night.

Mr. Narayanaswamy completed his post-graduation in agriculture. He served as District Forest Officer in Bellary, Shimoga, Uttara Kannada, Chickmagalur, and Bijapur. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of the Raichur Zilla Panchayat for a while.

He took charge as the CEO of the Davangere Zilla Panchayat in July 2004 and within a short span, he won the hearts of his colleagues, members of the taluk and gram panchayats, and the public. He was known for his hard work and integrity. Hundreds of people assembled at his house as the news of his death reached them.

The Minister for Social Welfare and in charge of the district, Y. Nagappa; the Davangere MLA, Shyamanur Shivashankarappa; the Harpanhalli MLA, P.T. Parmeshwara Naika; the Jagalur MLA, T. Gurusiddanagowda; the Mayakonda MLA, S.A. Ravindranath; the Deputy Commissioner, M.S. Ravishankar; the Headquarters' Assistant, Nanjundeshwar; the Assistant Commissioner, Bettasurmutt; the deputy secretary of the zilla panchayat, Turmuri; and the Chennagiri MLA, Mahima Patel, have condoled the death of Mr. Narayanaswamy.
