KARNATAKA

Metro rail

BANGALORE Nov. 24. The Union Minister for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Ananth Kumar, on Sunday reiterated the need for metro rail facility for Bangalore. He was speaking at the signing of shareholders agreement of Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE) here.

Mr. Kumar said of the 35 cities in the country with a population of over a million, only four metropolitan cities had the facility. Bangalore, with a population of 65 lakhs, and a global image as a hi-tech city, deserved an ultra-modern railway structure, he felt.
