Meet to discuss formation of new outfit

GULBARGA, NOV. 29. The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) will organise a convention here on December 6 to coincide with B.R. Ambedkar's 48th Maha Parinirvana Divas (death anniversary).

The KRRS President, K.S. Puttannaiah, will inaugurate the convention to be held on the public ground in the evening, according to B.V. Chakravarty of the DSS (Honnapur faction).

He told presspersons on Monday that the convention would pave the way for the formation of a new political outfit comprising farmers and Dalits. Meetings would be held in other districts on the issue. A rally would be held in the city prior to the convention.

Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi, MP; B.R. Patil, Vishwanath Patil Hebbal, and Sharanabasappa Darshnapur, MLAs; C. Gurunath, former Minister; and Guruprasad Keragood, writer, would attend the convention, Mr. Chakravarty said.

Mr. Chakravarty accused the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Sagar faction) President, D.G. Sagar, of dividing the DSS for his political gains.

He threatened to launch an agitation if Gulbarga University did not include the works of Dalit writers such as Devanooru Mahadeva, Mogalli Ganesh and Baragooru Ramachandrappa in the book Ayda Sanna Kategalu.
