‘Sri Ram Sene will be banned if necessary’

MANGALORE: District in-charge Minister J. Krishna Palemar has condemned the incident where people in a pub on Balmatta Road were attacked on January 24 by members of the Sri Ram Sene and said the outfit will be banned “if necessary”.

The Minister told presspersons here on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party had nothing to do with the sene and alleged that certain groups that could not tolerate the “successful governance” of the BJP Government had “conspired” to engineer the attack through the sene to bring a bad name to the BJP. Meanwhile, convenor of the district Congress M.G. Hegde condemned the attack and said that the BJP was using its “aggressive outfits” such as the Bajrang Dal for such activities.

A group of women, including Congress leader Kripa Alva, held a press meet and condemned the attack saying that they too were against the “pub culture” but did not agree with the way the sene had taken the law into their hands.
