‘Officers have not released Rs. 4 lakh due to health scheme beneficiaries'

Bijapur Zilla Panchayat president Somnath Bagalkot has instructed the health and family welfare deputy director to take action against officers who have failed to implement the Taibhagya, the Madilu and the other health schemes in the district.

Speaking at a monthly Karnataka Development Progress review meeting at the zilla panchayat auditorium here on Wednesday, he said that beneficiaries have complained that the money released under the Taibhagya scheme has not reached them owing to the negligence of the officers concerned.

Though the Government has released Rs. 4.5 crore under the Rashtriya Arogya Abhiyan and Rs. 5.5 crore under the RCH schemes to the district, the officers concerned have not taken any steps to release Rs. 4 lakh due to beneficiaries under the various health schemes, he said.

Unhappy

Expressing dissatisfaction over the officials “failure” to take up work under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGREGA) in this financial year, Mr. Bagalkot instructed the deputy secretary to clear pending bills of the last fiscal and take up new works under the Act within a fortnight and submit a report to him.

He also instructed the officers concerned to take up construction of school compound walls and school grounds under the Act.
