‘Jungle raj’ in State: Ugrappa

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council V.S. Ugrappa on Wednesday said Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and Home Minister V.S. Acharya should resign owning moral responsibility for the “lawlessness” in the two coastal districts.

Addressing presspersons here, he alleged that Mr. Yeddyurappa and Dr. Acharya were responsible for the Sri Ram Sene attack on women at a Mangalore pub.

A “jungle raj” kind of situation prevailed in the State, he charged.

He also lashed out at Mr. Yeddyurappa and Dr. Acharya for their “irresponsible” statements on the incident and criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party Government for the frequent incidents of “lawlessness” in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

The “moral policing” by the Sangh Parivar elements would destroy the cultural diversity of the State.

“If women can’t move about freely, the Government has no right to remain in office,” he said and demanded the resignation of the Home Minister.
