Bangalore: The Labour Ministry, along with the Ministry of Human Resources, should work towards making skill development an integral part of the education system, said the former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily.

Speaking at the inauguration of Community Institute of Management in Bangalore on Saturday, he said education should be made holistic and in tune with the global marketing scenario.

People skilled in areas such as medicine and engineering were taking up management courses to make their learning holistic, he said. “We should overhaul our education system, keeping the global context in mind, and drop some of our old baggage,” said Mr. Moily.

Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes said Bangalore had the potential to grow into an educational destination for students from throughout the world.

The former Minister Roshan Baig, Community Centre Education Society president K.M. Nagaraj, and the former MP V.S. Krishna Iyer were present.
