‘Consumers must know their rights'

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Consumers should be made aware of their rights and duties to ensure that they are not exploited, Y.N. Siddaiah, working president of District Consumer Association, has said.

He was inaugurating a programme to mark the World Consumer Rights Day here on Monday.

Mr. Siddaiah, who spoke on consumer rights and duties, alleged that the Government too was neglecting its duty towards consumer protection. He wanted the elected representatives to take steps to raise awareness among people on consumer laws.

People should demand receipts for purchases made, said Mallesh Gowda from AVK College for Women.
