Raichur: The Raichur district unit of LIC Agents Organisation of India has urged the Union Government to consider the services of LIC agents on par with that of other employees of the sector and extend benefits to them.

In a statement here on Thursday, members of the district organising committee Y. Eranna and Rajab Ali said more than 12 lakh LIC agents had been serving the sector since the past five decades. But they had been denied proper facilities as was being extended to other employees in the sector.

They said retired LIC agents were not covered under the pension scheme. The Union Government had extended this facility to its employees in the other sectors. It should extend such facilities to LIC agents too, they said.
